Emily Johnson
Gentle yoga, mobility
Time table
Sunday
10:00 AM — 11:00 AM

Emily’s gentle class moves slowly, stays close to the ground and asks nothing that would leave you sore the next day. It is popular with people returning after injury or illness, people in their seventies and eighties, and anyone who simply wants an hour of movement without effort.
Seated warm-up for wrists, ankles and neck.
Standing balance work with a chair or wall.
Gentle spinal movement in all directions.

Most of the class works within a comfortable range of motion. That is not a compromise: joints do most of their maintenance in the middle of their range, and moving there often is worth more than occasionally forcing the ends.
Every shape has a seated version, and using it is entirely ordinary in this room. Nobody is keeping score and Emily is unfailingly patient with questions.
A chair is always there
Every shape has a seated version, and nobody comments.
Accessible by design
Built for stiff mornings and tired weeks, not for showing off.
Steady progress
Small ranges, repeated weekly, add up more than you expect.
If it has been years, or if it has never been, this is a comfortable place to start. Come a few minutes early and tell Emily what you would like to be careful with.

Winifred H.
I am seventy-three and I had been told yoga was not for me. Emily disagreed politely and proved it. I do most of the class from a chair and I can now get off the floor unaided.

No. Every class is taught with options rather than expectations, and our Fundamentals and Gentle sessions assume no prior practice at all. Tell your teacher it’s your first time and they will look after you.
Comfortable clothes and a water bottle. Mats, blocks, straps and bolsters are all provided, and there are showers and lockers in the changing rooms.
Yes. Drop-in classes and pay-as-you-go class packs sit alongside our memberships, so you can practise as often or as rarely as suits you.
Fifteen minutes before your first class, and around five for every class after that. It gives you time to check in, settle and set up your mat without rushing.
Pause or cancel anytime with 30 days notice. There are no joining fees and no lock-in contracts, and any unused class credits stay on your account.
We do. Several of our teachers are qualified in pre and postnatal practice and in therapeutic yoga. Let us know before class so your teacher can adapt the session for you.
